Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) hair transplant is the gold standard treatment to replace lost hair and was initially described in Japan in 1988. The procedure has gained significant popularity among hair restoration experts in the last decade.
The procedure has far less recovery time and post-operative discomfort, in comparison with the FUT hair transplant.
In the FUE method, we harvest the hair follicle units from the donor area which is usually the back of the head. Each unit or graft consists of 1-4 hairs. Prior to the extraction, hair on the donor area will be shaved and local anaesthesia is administered to the donor area.
The harvesting usually takes 2- 4 hours ( depending on the number of grafts required) and the patient needs to be in a prone position during this part of the procedure.
In the next stage, the recipient area is prepared with local anaesthesia and antiseptic material and small incisions are made in order to accommodate the grafts. This phase also takes 1-2 hours to complete. The last part of the procedure is implanting the grafts in the incisions made on the recipient area.
As one of the leading FUE transplant clinics in London, we have performed a significant number of cases of FUE transplant and our results have been the best marker of our expertise and success in hair restoration.
For further information please book a free consultation session and we explain the procedure during our consultation, in further detail.
During the free consultation session, all treatment options would be discussed and sent out for the client to have enough time to decide while having access to the clinical assessment.
