How we Perform Breast Implant Replacement
When you come to our clinic, our plastic surgeon will work with a team of other doctors and nurses to perform the breast implant replacement. First, our anaesthesiologist will administer general anaesthesia, after which an incision will be made to remove the old implant. This may be done in the crease under the breast (inframammary), around the areola (peri-areola), or the surgeon may perform a vertical incision. The old implant is then removed along with scar tissue from the previous procedure(s). A subglandular or subpectoral pocket is then created based on the agreement, and the new implants are carefully installed. Sutures and skin adhesives are then used to close the incisions.
Recovery From Breast Implant Replacement
Most patients will need to be admitted overnight before being discharged, although some may prefer to come in early and leave on the same day. You may need to wear a support bra for a couple of weeks after the surgery, and strenuous activities should be avoided. Soreness around the area may be experienced for up to six weeks, although this should generally subside within two weeks. Any discomfort and other symptoms experienced should be reported to our cosmetic surgery professionals as soon as they come up.
